About Albion
Sitting astride the Erie canal, the town of Albion is an historical center of upstate New York. The central city in Orleans county, this town was formed in 1875 and takes its name from the Gaelic word for England. An important mining and agricultural center, the area was famous for its sandstone. Several churches in the town are built of this distinctive stone, known as Medina Sandstone. There are two large correctional facilities in the area, which are the major employers, and a very old and large park called Bullard Park which features a waterfall.
