Allegany Town - Town Justice Court

About Allegany
One of the largest towns in New York State, Allegany derives its name from a Native American word meaning "lovely". The town was originally founded by a settler from Connecticut named Ebenezer Reed who wanted to call the town Burton. The name was officialy changed to Allegeny in 1851. One unique feature of the town is the Rock City Park, natural rock formations that resemble skyscrapers. The Allegeny River Trail offers idyllic scenery as it winds along the Allegeny River and the town itself is a popular tourist spot for its postcard perfect facades. The Allegeny Public Library is a particularly popular spot for visitors with cameras.
