About Arab
Arab (pronounced /ˈɛəræb/, locally [ˈeɪræəb]) is a city in Marshall County, Alabama. Oddly enough, the US Postal Service unintentionally misspelled the city's intended name in 1882. It was taken from the son of the town founder and first post master Stephen Tuttle Thompson who was named Arad Thompson. The name was incorporated in 1892.

With a high level of attraction for a supportive family atmosphere through a wholesome, safe and secure environment. Arab has a quality learning environment for all ages and opportunities are provided to citizens for life-long rewarding employment, recreation, historical and cultural experiences. The city hosts events such as the Annual Poke Salat Festival, the Community Fair, & the Downtown Walk & Cemetary Stroll. They also boast a 100 acre city park with trails, pavilions, & the historical Arab Historical Village. This village includes 1935 Old Hunt School, 1912 church, country store, museum, grist mill, blacksmith shop, club demonstration home. Structures dating from 1880s to 1930s preserved with authentic furnishings.
