About Arkville
Arkville is a hamlet of the town of Middleton, nestled amongst the Catskill Mountains. The Catskill Center for Conservation and Development, a not-for-profit organization dedicated to preserving the natural beauty of the Catskills, is headquartered in Arkville. The Center was founded in 1969 and is housed in historic Erpf house, a turn of the century mansion that overlooks Highway 28.

The village is also the home of the Pakatakan Artists Colony, a historic district of mountainside studios that once housed some of the more famous Catskills landscape artists. Arkville is the center of the historic Delaware and Ulster Railroad, a heritage railroad that offers charters on the "Rip van Winkle Flyer."

Much as Rip van Winkle found time had passed him by, the historical buildings and well-preserved landmarks of Arkville leave the visitor feeling they are in a different time period.
