About Ashville
Ashville, the county seat of St. Clair County, is a small town in northern Alabama. It was originally named St. Clairsville, after a hero of the American Revolution, General Arthur St. Clair . The first settlers were from Tennessee and Georgia, veterans of Creek Indian War of 1813 and 1814. The city is named after the first white settler of the area in 1817, John Ash. His log home which was built in the center of the city, still stands as the oldest house in the county. Incorporated in 1822 Ashville served as the only county courthouse until 1907.
Ashville has many social & cultural events including their local Fall Festival hosted in October. In 2010 they are also playing host to a stop for the Run for Wall veterans motorcycle ride which is annual motorcycle ride to promote healing among veterans & their families. Their city also has a great balance of multicultural residents as well as a wide variety.
