About Atlantic Beach
An afffluent seaside village on the south shore of Long Island, Atlantic Beach feature closely guarded sandy beaches that are accessible only to members of the many beach clubs. Adjacent to The Hamptons, perhaps the most coveted area of real estate in the world, Atlantic Beach is part of the south shore community that includes notorious gangster hangouts as well as mansions dating back to the gilded age. Property owned by names such as Vanderbilt and Rockefeller are in the south shore area.

Atlantic Beach was made famous by the Corleone family in the Academy Award winning movie "The Godfather." Michael Corleone made his fictional home here while his father Don Corleone lived next door in Long Beach. Atlantic Beach was also the setting for several episodes of the "Sopranos" television drama and also featured in the movie "City by the Sea" starring Robert de Niro, a gritty crime drama that exposed the seedy underbelly of the South Shore.

Atlantic Beach is one of the 22 villages that comprise the city of Hempstead in Nassau County. The town was first settled as an English colony in 1644, making it one of the oldest towns in North America. If all the 22 villages and 37 hamlets that are part of Hempstead were incorporated into one city, it would also be one of the largest.
