About Atmore
Atmore is a city in Escambia County, Alabama. The city is named for Mr. C.P. Atmore and the federally recognized Poarch Band of Creek Indians is headquartered here. First recorded as a stop on the Mobile and Great Northern Railroad, Mr. C.P. Atmore, a railroad engineer, often stopped at the Williams Station depot.

The area was primarily a farming, timber, and light industry community. The "Vanity Fair" lingerie company operated a manufacturing sewing plant in Atmore providing jobs to the citizens of Atmore and surrounding communities but its closing created a short-term employment crisis. Telecommunications has taken a great foot hold in the last 20 years. Also the federal gaming influx from the Poarch Band of Creek Indians has increased industry & the economy greatly.

Atmore is the home of a few famed people such as Evander Holyfield, Paul Birch, & Don McNeal.
