Canastota Village - Village Justice Court

About Canastota
A vilage on the border of the town of Lennox, Canastota is a native word that conjures up images of serenity; "cluster of pines near still waters." The town was first incorporated in 1835 and then re-organized in 1870. The town thrived as a stop on the New York Central Railroad and even opened the Canastota National Bank in 1876.

Just west of Oneida Lake and the Finger Lakes region, the town is adjacent of the Oneida Creek which flows into Oneida lake. Well watered with excellent soil, the town is situated on prime farm land. Madison County, named in honor of the fourth President of the United States, draws its boundary line along Oneida Creek.
