About Childersburg
Childersburg is a city in Talladega and Shelby counties in Alabama. Its history quite possibly dates back to 1540, as a village of the Coosa Nation. T hepeople identified as part of the Kymulga phase culture lived at the site of Childersburg in the 16th century. A key figure in convincing Dexter Avenue Baptist Church to appoint Martin Luther King Jr. as their pastor, Joseph C. Parker was a resident & principal in Childersburg. The community was named for Thomas Childress who was a settler.

Boasted as the “Oldest Continually Occupied City in America”, it is home to the Rainwater Library & Rainwater Museum which is a peaceful place to visit.
