About Clanton
Clanton is a city in Chilton County, Alabama. Alfred Baker, the towns first mayor, founded the town in 1868 and named it after General James H. Clanton, a brigadier in the Confederate Army.

Local industry is closely link to the nearby automotive plants. Clanton also provides 80% of Alabamas Peach crop making it a large industry for the area. The town is also host to the annual Chilton County Peach Festival held since 1952. There are many parks & recreational centers around the town.

It was once the location of a German Prisoner of War camp during World War II. Its local residents known to the world are Clay Carroll & Jackie Hayes, MLB players, & Grayson Russell.
