About Clarksville
Along the Ohio River in Clark County, Indiana you will find Clarksville, Indiana population 21,400. One of the oldest towns in the Northwest Territory Clarksville was named after George Rogers Clark who was a general during the American Revolution. Clarksville later became known as a popular dueling spot for Kentuckians who were dodging the anti-dueling laws in Kentucky, the famous duel between Henry Clay and Humphrey Marshall took place in Clarksville.
Clarksville is home to one of the largest fossil beds from The Devonian period. You can find plant and marine life fossils from a prehistoric coral reef that dates back 386 million years at Falls of the Ohio State Park.
The Colgate Clock, the second largest in the world, makes it’s home in Clarksville. Although the Colgate-Palmolive Plant closed in 2008 there are no plane to remove the clock.
