About Clinton
Clinton, Indiana is located in Vermillion County with a population of 5,126. Most of Clinton’s original settlers were Italian immigrants who came to work the coal mines. Eventually the coal mines died out but the Italian immigrants stayed.
As a celebration of its coal mining and Italian heritage Clinton hosts an annual Little Italy Festival. The festival features Italian and carnival style food, a grapevine roofed wine garden, grape stomping, wine tours, free entertainment, a flea market and the largest Italian themed parade in the Midwest. An annual Bocca Ball tournament is also held in Clinton each year usually around the same time as the Little Italy Festival.
Clinton is home to many historical areas such as one of the few coal-mining museums left in the nation and one of fewer than 400 authentic gondolas in the United States.
