About Connersville
Connersville, Indiana is located in Fayette County with a population of 15,411 and is the county seat. Often called “Little Detroit” in the early 20th century, Connersville was very important to the automotive industry. Automobiles such as the Auburn, Cord, Duesenberg, Ansted, Empire, Lexington, and McFarlan were manufactured in Connersville. In 2009 Carbon Motors Corporation decided to relocate to Connersville and spend 350 million dollars to re-use a former Visteon plant.
An ever-popular event called the Mudfest can be found in Connersville. The Connersville Parks and Recreation Department began the fest in 1987 to raise money and since then every summer more than 100 teams play volleyball in a special muddy court at Roberts Park to raise money for the Parks Department.
The Heritage Music Festival, which takes place in June, offers up local bands that play everything from bluegrass to rock. The venue is usually the campgrounds by the Whitewater River.
