About Dadeville
Dadeville is a city in Tallapoosa County, Alabama and is also a county seat. Its a small town just outside all the major cities in Alabama. Its is also the “Heart of Lake Martin”. Tallapoosa county was created by the Alabama legislature on 1832 Dec. 18, from land ceded by the Creek Indians in the Treaty of Cusseta on March 24, 1832. The county derives its name from the Tallapoosa River. Since 1838, the county seat has been in Dadeville, which was named for Major Francis Langhorne Dade who died in the Seminole War in 1838. The town was granted a charter in 1837 and was first incorporated in 1858, but lost its charter during the War Between the States.
Also in Dadeville, the annual Muster on the Tallapoosa is held. It has music, games & history of the Creek & Cherokee indians. Another local spot is the Horseshoe Bend National Military Park.
