About Danville
In 1824 four men got together and decided to each donate 20 acres towards a town, a stake was driven in the ground where the properties met and that is where the Danville, Indiana was founded. Danville lies in the geographical center on Indiana and is the county seat for Hendricks County.

The Hendricks County Historical Museum, founded in 1974, is actually the former Sheriff’s Office and Jail in Danville. The building remains the only surviving example of the Second Empire style of architecture in the county. The Second Empire style became popular after the American Civil War and had such defining elements as a central tower and a mansard roof.
