Eclectic is a town in Elmore County, Alabama. Founded in1907, the community was known as Cotton or Cotton's Store on maps before named on maps in 1879 as Eclectic. Its thought that the town was named by a local resident who had taken an "eclectic" course of study and named it that due to the varying geographic conditions.
It currently holds to major companies in aerospace technology contributing to prosperity of the local community. There is no short on big business there but the town still maintains a small town atmosphere.
Local events include Eclectic Eclectic Trade Days, American Manufic also actured Playdolls 1910-1950, and the Art Walk. Eclectic also features places such as “A Touch of New York”, Lake Martin Ampitheater, & Kentuck Art Center.
