About Eutaw
Eutaw is a city in Greene County, Alabama and is the county seat. The community was named for Eutaw Springs, SC. Eutaw has twenty-seven antebellum structures on the National Register of Historic Places. The architect of the 1960s Civil Rights Movement, James Bevel, was buried in Eutaw.
The town is the home town of the protagonist in the Old Crow Medicine Show song "Big Time in the Jungle,". Also there was an album named “Eutaw” by the same band. A town full of artists, photographers, & volunteers, its a serene place to visit. The city's cultural makeup is predominantly African-American but has a blend of other races.
In Eutaw there are many historic places to visit such as the Coleman-Banks House, Old Greene County Courthouse, First Presbyterian Church, and Kirkwood, a famous plantation house. Events like the Black Belt Folk Roots Festival and the Eutaw Pilgrimage are done annually.
