About Fayetteville
Named after a General of France and a friend of the American Revolution, Fayetteville is a village in Onondaga County. The Marquis de Lafayette was a French aristocrat and military officer who served the American Revolution under George Washington. Fayetteville is within the town of Manlius on the eastern edge of Onondaga County.

Fayetteville benefited greatly from the building of the Erie Canal. A prosperous community, many of the mansions and palatial estates of Fayetteville date from the late 1800s when the town was the economic center of the region.

Today, Fayetteville blends historical elegance with natural beauty, paying special attention to the restoration of historical buildings and the care and maintenance of the many parks and green spaces.
