About Fishkill
Standing astride the mountain approaches to New York City, the town of Fishkill has always been of strategic importance. During the Revolutionary War, a vast military encampment was established around the town and this became the main supply depot for the northern division of the army. The first 1000 copies of the New York State Constitution were turned out on Samuel Loudon's press in 1777 in the town of Fishkill.

Named by the Dutch, Fishkill is taken from the Dutch words for Fish Creek. The house of Roger Brett, first settler in the area in 1709, still stands and is the oldest continuous residence in Dutchess County.
