About Gary
Gary, Indiana is located in Lake County about 25 miles from downtown Chicago and is dotted by numerous steel mills. When the city was settled in 1906 it was done so by the United States Steel Corporation, simply because they needed a home for their new plant. The lawyer and founding chairman of United States Steel Corporation was a man by the name of Elbert H. Gary, the town was named after him.

Gary basically has two major sports franchises. The Gary SouthShore RailCats are a professional baseball team for the Northern League and were the 2005 and 2007 Northern League champions. Gary also has professional basketball team called the Gary Steelheads; they have played in the IBL, CBA, and USBL.

If you want to get an idea of what Gary looks like just go to your local theatre. In 2009 some of the scenes in the remake for A Nightmare on Elm Street were filmed in Gary.
