About Glens Falls
A city on the northern section of the Hudson River, Glens Falls takes its name from the waterfalls at the southern border of the city. A key strategic area, the area was contested by American and British forces throughout the early years of settlement.

Originally settled by Quakers, the peaceful nature of these people was disturbed by war, as the village was burned down twice. Then known as Wing's Falls, for Abraham Wing the leader of the Quakers, the name was renamed by Colonel Johannes Glen, legend says after winning the right to do so in a hand of poker.

Glens Falls is today a major manufacturing center of medical devices and an important transportation hub in upstate New York.
