Hornell City - City Court

About Hornell
Hornell is a city in Steuben County, famous for having one of the largest St. Patrick's Day parades in the area. Nicknamed "Maple City" for the large maple trees that line Main Street, Hornell is set amidst the natural beauty of the Canisteo valley.

Early settler George Hornell built the first grist mill in the area and gave his name to the village that grew up around it. The town enjoyed great prosperity as the supplier and repairer of steam engines for the New York and Erie Railroad. A decline in freight shipping via railways and a flood in 1972 ended that era. The Erie railyards are now the assembly center for Alstom, a large French multinational conglomerate.
