Hudson Falls Village - Village Court

About Hudson Falls
Formerly the county seat of Washington County, Hudson Falls lost that distinction in 1994 when the county seat was moved to nearby Fort Edward. First appearing in the history books in 1764, when Albert Baker built a saw mill on the Hudson that made use of the falls hydropower, the area has one of the oldest settlements in the county.

Once known as Sandy Hill, the villagers changed the name to Hudson Falls in 1910. Linked to the Hudson waterway by the Glens Falls feeder canal, local stone quarries supplied much of the stone used to build the Brooklyn Bridge and the Bennington Battle Monument.
