About Huntington Station
The birthplace of iconic American poet Walt Whitman, the village of Huntington Station houses the Walt Whitman Museum, the Walt Whitman Shopping Mall and Wlat Whitman High School.

A village named for the railroad station on the Long Island Railroad, Huntington Station is a major stop on the railway line. Originally called Fairground, the railway station was built just outside of the town of Huntington due to a concerted protest by the residents of this affluent town.

Huntington Station is also the home of the Long Island School for the Gifted, serving gifted children from across the island.
