Covert Town - Justice Court

About Interlaken
Positioned between two lakes in Seneca County, the town of Interlaken is appropriately named. Once simply named "Farmer Village" this rural community changed its name to something more evocative in order to secure a railway station on the Leigh Valley Railway line. The railway would only build the station if the name were changed.

Interlaken was set apart from the town of Covert in 1904. Part of the military tract, the region was set aside for the settlement of soldiers who had fought in the Revolutionary War.

Nearby Cayuga Lake is one of the Finger Lakes, a region of great natural beauty. Taughannock State Park is on the southern borders of the town and features one of the tallest waterfalls in the USA.
