About Ithaca
Named by a surveyor with a fondness for classic literature, Ithaca is the Greek island home of Ulysses, hero of the Ancient Greek epic poem The Iliad. The seat of Cornell University and Ithaca College, the city is a major center of central New York State.

Founded by Ezra Cornell, an entreprenuer who made his fortune as the founder of Western Union, Cornell Univerity is an Ivy League School with over 20,000 students. Ithaca College was founded as a conservatory of music and is now considered one of the top master's colleges in the northern states.

Founded on flat land at the end of Cayuga Lake, Ithaca enjoys an advantaged natual location and makes an unforgettable impression on visitors. Ezra Cornall was a well-travelled man when he passed through Ithaca and decided to settle down, and many of the alumni of the school who bears his name have found a soft spot for this unique city.
