About Kentland
Founded in 1860 Kentland, Indiana was named after Alexander Kent, the man who acquired the marshy area and prepared it for development. As with most of the area Kentland is a primarily agricultural community with a diversifying economy. “Where Agriculture and Industry Meet” is the town motto.
Purdue University and Ross-Ade Stadium, home of the boilermakers football team, is located in Kentland. The stadium was named after two local residents George Ade, a noted humorist, and fellow benefactor David Ross.
Warren McCray, former Indiana governor, was from Kentland. In 1924 McCray was convicted of mail fraud and was forced to resign as governor.
