About Mcclellan
In the North Highlands of Sacramento County, McClellan was the site of a major Air Force base and Coast Guard station. Closed as of 2001, McClellan Air Force base was a logistics and maintenance facility for a wide variety of military aircraft, equipment and supplies.

Coast Guard Air Station Sacramento at McClellan still operates as a tenant of the base, flying Hercules search and rescue aircraft on missions into the Pacific, although the Air Force has closed the base. Portions of the base now operate as a business park.

McClellan is also home of the Aerospace Museum of California. Major Hezekiah McClellan, for whom the base and the town are named, was an early pioneer in aviation and charted Alaskan air routes.
