About Mexico
A town named after a country, Mexico is the "mother of towns" in Oswego County. Located in the notheast corner of Oswego County, Mexico has been subdivided numerous times over the years to create other smaller towns and villages.

Mexico itself was created from the town of Whitestown, then in Herkimer County. The Mexico Village Historic District is a national historic district which includes 77 buildings. Beck's Hotel, built in 1897, is the largest of the buildings.

Blessed with fertile soil, the area around Mexico has been able to rely on good crops and a thriving dairy industry.
