About Middletown
On the northern border of the New York Metropolitan area, against the Shawangunk Mountains, Middletown was incorporated as a city in 1888. An important train stop in the Hudson Valley, Middletown grew with the Erie railroad and entered a period of decline in the 1970s when global IT giant IBM downsized its operations in the area.

The Middletown train station on the Erie Railroad is now a library and many of the buildings in the downtown are have fallen into disrepair. Commuters to New York City make up a large portion of the population base, especially firemen and policemen. The Victorian mansion Morrison Hall is now part of the Orange County Community College, renamed Webb Hall.
