Morristown Town - Town Court OFC

About Morristown
Hard on the American side of the St. lawrence River, the village of Morristown witnessed the first naval battle of the War of 1812. The village was quite small at that time, settlement having only just begun in 1808.

Named for Governor Jacob Morris, who was a signatory of the Declaration of Independence and a General in the Revolutionary Army, Morristown occupied the outer edge of this early land baron's holdings.

Adjacent to the town is the Jacques Cartier State Park, a beachfront picnic and recreation area, named for the early French explorer who was the first European in the area.
