About Nashville
Settlement of Nashville, Indiana began with the 1809 Treaty of Fort Wayne even though the town was not officially incorporated until 1872. Dramatic erosion problems had taken hold by the turn of the century because of the heavy logging and deforestation. The population severely declined during this time and is still recouping.

After the town was incorporated and the population began to grow a makeshift mental institution was established in what is now the school administration building. According to records over 100 lobotomies were preformed and patients were often severely mistreated. Legend has it that the building is still haunted by the patients who were mistreated. If you are a resident of the school district you can request a tour of the basement where the cells still stand.

Nashville is known for it’s unique shops and is often viewed as an artist’s colony. “Antique Alley” holds many of the unique shops that include such things as watercolors, sculpture, and stained glass, hand carved furniture and one of a kind perfumes. Taylor’s Fourth Dimension, one of only three hologram shops in North America, makes it’s home in Nashville.
