Nichols Town - Town Court Justices

About Nichols
On the south bank of the Susquehanna River, the area where the town of Nichols now sits, there once was one of the largest villages of the native peoples. Making good use of the fertile land and the abundance of game and fish, the natives had long made this region a thriving population.

Scattered by the soldiers of the Sullivan expedition and resettled by Europeans, the place took the name of a retired Colonel in the Revolutionary Army who settled there in the late 18th century.

Halfway between Elmira and Binghamton, the town of Nichols remains prized by its residents for the fertility of the land.
