About Noblesville
Noblesville, Indiana was purchased from the local Indians in 1818. William Conner and his wife, a Delaware Indian, were the only settlers living in the area and they established the first trading post in the area as well as the first log cabin. Conner’s 1832 home is one of a village of historic building that make up the Conner Prairie Pioneer Settlement, a living history museum to the south on Noblesville.

The Ku Klux Klan is a large part of Noblesville’s history. In 1995 a large trunk was discovered in an old abandoned barn. The trunk contained membership cards, sashes, hoods and other equipment belonging to the local chapter of the Ku Klux Klan. Despite the obvious connections between Noblesville and the Klan, the Grand Dragon D.C. Stephenson was put on trial in Noblesville. Stephenson kidnapped and raped an Indianapolis Statehouse Secretary and was found guilty. After realizing that his political connections were of no help to him, Stephenson began telling everyone’s secrets. Governor Ed Jackson was indicted as a result.
