About Orange
The city of Orange took its name from Orange, Virginia the hometown of the original residents. The fact that it grew into a major citrus growing area was not coincidental, but there was hardly an Orange tree in the area when the town was named in 1873.

The "Plaza City", Orange was the first to be built and developed around a central plaza. During the Orange era, when the population grew apace with the rapidly developing citrus groves in the late 1800s, Orange City became a major center of the newly named Orange County.

Population again increased with the building of the freeways to connect neighboring cities like Orange with Los Angeles. The affordable real estate around Orange lead to a housing boom and a transformation for the town from agricultural area to residential suburb.
