About Peru
Peru, Indiana in the county seat for Miami County with a population of 12,994. Known as the “Circus Capital of the World” Peru is home of the original circus winter headquarters. In July of each year the circus heritage it celebrated with a youth circus a parade. The parade is considered to be the 2nd largest parade in the United States.

This town is also the home of the only remaining steam calliopes manufacturer in the world. A steam calliope is a musical instrument that produces sound by sending steam through large whistles, originally locomotive whistles.

Peru is also the tribal headquarters for the Miami Indians and the home of the International Circus Hall of Fame.
