About Roanoke
Roanoke, Indiana is a very small town in Huntington County with a population of 1,495. The entire town is only 0.6 square miles and is all land. Originally the hunting grounds for the Miami Indians the town became prosperous when the Wabash and Erie Canal decided to include a lock in Roanoke. Even when the arrival of the railroad brought an end to trading along the canal Roanoke still prospered.
Roanoke Park is a very large part of the city. Nestled in the heart of the city it is also where most of the community events are held. On the 4th of July the fireworks are launched from the park, sports tournaments are played at the park and even the Fall Festival is held at the park.
