About Schererville
Long before Schererville, Indiana was founded it was called the “Crossroads” because of the fact that several Indian trails intersected in this area, these trails later became routes for the wagons of the settlers who founded the area. Nicholas Scherer arrived in the area in 1846 from Germany and founded Schererville.
The annual Schererville Festival and Parade is usually held in June at Redar Park in Schererville. The city celebrates with live music, a beer garden, a carnival and a parade. The festival is usually a four or five-day event, which includes a lot of family fun.
Although Schererville has a population of 24,851 it is often called a “Bedroom Town” because most of its residents work in Chicago rather than in Schererville.
