About Shoals
Home of Rodeo champion Roger Atkison Shoals, Indiana is the county seat of Martin County and has a population of 807. Shoals is best known for having the largest freestanding rock formation East of the Mississippi River, Jug Rock.

Located in a valley on the East Fork of the White River lies Jug Rock. The rock is made of mostly sandstone and was once part of a nearby cliff. Jug Rock stands one hundred and seventy feet above the nearby stream with a jug shaped body and a flat top often called the “stopper”. Standing opposite Jug Rock is its companion rock House Rock.
