About Stillwater
Referred to by residents as "The Turning Point of the Revolution", the town of Stillwater is the scene where British forces surrendered after the Battle of Saratoga. A decisive victory in the War of Independence, Saratoga marked the beginning of the end for British hopes to retain the American colonies. Saratoga National Park recreates the battlefield and offers visitors the chance to relive history.

Settler Peter Schuyler built Fort Ingoldsby in the area to protect the early residents of the town in 1709. A contested area during the wars with the French, early settlers worked the land with a musket in hand. A replica of the fort now serves as the Stillwater Blockhouse Museum.
