About Strykersville
A hamlet in the town of Sheldon, Strykersville is the location of town government and administration. A town on the western border of Wyoming County, Sheldon was created from the town of Batavia in 1808.

Sheldon in turn was carved up to form other towns. The town of Attica was created from parts of the town of Sheldon in 1811 and the towns of Bennington and Arcade were carved off in 1818.

Part of the Holland Purchase, Wyoming County is largely rural, dotted with dairy farms and pasture lands. The wooded areas are a popular destination for outdoor enthusiasts and a major source of the region's maple syrup.
