About Tipton
Tipton, Indiana is the county seat for Tipton County and has a population of about 5,337. The town was formed in 1844 and named after General John Tipton, a soldier who fought in the War of 1812 at the Battle of Tippecanoe.

The city of Tipton hosts a festival each year to celebrate pork, which is the most popular business in Tipton. The Tipton County Pork Festival is held the weekend after Labor Day each year and begins with a parade. There is a Miss Pork Cuisine that reigns over the festival as well as music and pork. Visitors to the festival were allowed to blog about their experiences the on the Tipton Pork Festival Blog until the official pork festival committee caught wind and took the site down immediately.
