About Wasilla
Wasilla, located on scenic Glenn Highway less than an hour from Anchorage, is home to many museums and historical sites such as Dorothy G. Page, The Museum of Alaskan Transportation, The Old Wasilla Town Site, and other attractions.
The town was settled by the Denaina Athabascan Indians and named after Chief Wasilla.
The township was established in 1917 when the Alaskan Railroad made it possible for more travel. The Alaskan pipeline came along during the 1970's and 1980's bringing in many residents and making it one of the fastest growing cities in the United States at the time. Today, it is home to over 7,000.
