About Williamson
A village on the shores of Lake Ontario, Williamson remained an important port even after the building of the Erie Canal. Part of the Gorham and Phelps Land Purchase, the first settlers built their log cabins in 1794.

An area traditionally associated with apple farming, Williamson hosts an annual Apple Blossom Festival. It is also the home to a division of the Snapple Group, which draws upon the many apple orchards for its Apple Sauce and Apple Juice products.

A growing bedroom community for commuters to Rochester, Williamson is also a town without bars. Alcohol service in restaurants was only recently restored in 2004 and beer was allowed to be sold in grocery stores again in 1996. When the rest of the country celebrated the repeal of Prohibition in 1933, Williamson has maintained its status as a "dry town."
